Fire Protection.—A delegation from the Tai Tapu Fire Committee will attend the next meeting of the Halswell County Council to present its case for a fire protection scheme in Tai' Tapu. Previously the committee had suggested that Paparua, Halswell and Springs County combine to operate such a scheme, but the counties had been unable to agree. The committee is now presenting its case to each of the counties individually.
