Court Commends Police Dog
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 21. The police dog Duke's “able help” to a Massey service station owner, Mr J. Smith, in capturing three persons who broke into his property, was today commended by Mr F. McCarthy, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland.
William Kake, a 23-year-old workman and leader of the three, appeared for sentence on charges of breaking and entering and theft concerned with the Massey episode and others earlier the same night He was gaoled for nine months, with a year’s probation to follow.
