ROPIHA STABLE TEAM ON WAY TO MELBOURNE
The Melbourne Cup candidate flnmquh and Are other horses from E. Ropiha’s Woodville stable travelled to Ellerslie on Wednesday on the first leg of their trip to Flemington for the Centenary Melbourne Cup carnival. They will be loaded on the Wanganella at Auckland today. The norses were all in firstclass order when they were paraded before their owners before leaving on Wednesday. Besides □umquh they include Tobacco. Dark Plunge, Arakhan. Return Fare and an unraced Ally by Rejoicing from Alarm Clock. At Flemington they will be quartered at Wright, Stephenson and Company’s stables. Ropiha went with them and during his absence the remainder of his team at Woodville will be looked after by M. C. Robinson. Many of the regular members, including the consistent performer. Gold Merit, have been put aside and Robinson will spend most of his time conditioning newcomers for spring racing. Humquh’s mission on the trip is the Melbourne-Caulfield Cups double and his owners, Mr and Mrs Alister Williams, were pleased with his condition. A
Tobacco also stripped well and his connexions are confident he will race prominently in the Caulfield Cup, although he has yet to contest open company.
