NO HOTELS NEAR AIRPORTS

N.Z. Alliance Seeks Restriction (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 21. The New Zealand. Alliance is seeking a provision to prevent licensed premises being established within a mile of any aerodrome. A remit to this effect will come before the annual conference of the Alliance in Wellington. Other remits include:— A suggestion that the definition of “liquor” as contained in section 4 of the Licensing Act, 1908, be amended by reducing the proof spirit content from three parts a 100 to two parts a 100, and by excluding the exemption for medicated wines. The Dominion executive also seeks a minimum penalty of £lO for minors found drinking in prohibited places: an excise tariff on New Zealand wines at least comparable with beer excise. A remit from the Auckland area asks for a recommendation to the Minister of Internal Affairs that public bars be closed when a state of national emergency is declared.
