TRIAL FOR GRIFFIN

Place In Test Team LONDON. July 20. South Africa’s controversial throwing bowler, G. Griffin, will be given a secret test today to see whether he can be included in the team for the fourth test tomorrow. The test wifi be watched by representatives of the South African Cricket Association, Messrs G. Chubb and F. Bowley, according to the "Daily Sketch.” Griffin wifi be wearing the aluminium splint which is said’to have kept his arm straight at the nets in the last two days. Messrs Chubb and Bowley are the only two men who can make Griffin available for selection. He was banned by tjie South African Cricket Association, and until he wins their approval again the team selectors have no say. The "Daily Sketch” commented that unless Griffin was chosen. South Africa would go into the test with its weakest attack ever.

J. Pothecary was not expected to be fit, and in any case was not good enough for a test. A. McKinnon was a good Rugby player, not a test bowler.

Since Griffin was dropped, the fast bowler, N. A. T. Adcock, has been very overworked.
