BURNSIDE STOCK SALE (New Zealand Press Association) - DUNEDIN, July 20. The yarding of fat cattles at the Burnside sale today was 205, as against 239 last week. There were few good quality cattle, in . the entry, the bulk of the yardirtg being little better than store class.

The sale opened at values £4 to £5 above last week, and these values were maintained throughout.

Cows and heifers were in short supply, and they also made good values. The number of fat sheep yarded rose to 3254, compared with 2353 last week. As a result, values suffered all round.

The wether section, although of good quality, showed a sharp drop of 6s to 7s in the two-tooth class, but older wethers could be quoted as on a par with last week’s sale.

Ewes were in greater evidence this week, but with only lethargic competition, values were dropped 5s to 6s in all classes. The fat lamb entry remained small, with 148 being yarded. However, with good quality and strong competition, one pen of prime sheep realised 76s Id, and other lambs were not far off this price. Generally, as a result of heavier conditioned sheep, prices for lambs rose to an average, of 10s per head better.?
