Italian Premier Resigns
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) ROME, July 19. The Italian Prime Minister, Mr Fernando Tambroni, resigned today. A Cabinet statement said the Government recognised the majority which it held in Parliament no longer corresponded with the new political situation which had revealed the existence of a new parliamentary majority. Mr Tambroni resigned to make way for a new Government supported by the three minor democratic parties—the Democratic Socialists, the Liberals and the Republicans. It promises to give Italy a stronger pro-Western and anti-Communist coalition than Mr Tambroni’s regime.
