Strike Abandoned In India
(N.Z. Prest Association—Copy ria nt) NEW DELHI, July 17. Union leaders last night decided to abandon the week-old strike of low-paid Irdian Government employees, which was already slowly ending after days of violence and the mass arrests of more than 9000 strikers. The strike disrupted railways, posts and telegraphs and other essential services in the worst stoppage since India became independent in 1947.
