GIRL ESCAPERS SENTENCED

DUNEDIN, July 18. Valerie Patricia Colgan, aged 17. and Bonnie Luke, aged 25, both domestics, who escaped from the Dunedin women’s prison on Saturday night and were arrested last night, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today for sentence. They pleaded guilty, and were convicted and discharged. Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., asked that the incident be drawn to the attention of the Prisons Board. Inspector -C. A. G. Mcßae said the two girls, with another prisoner, had been in the vegetable shed. They cut out part of the plastic roof and climbed out jumping to the root of the coke shed, then to the ground. They escaped through the C. 1.8. yard into Dunbar street.
