Foor South African Suicides a Day.—Four persons committed suicide every day in South Africa, said the secretary of. the South African Psychological Association, Dr C. F. Kruger, in Johannesburg. Many more made unsuccessful attempts. He told a meeting of the Institute of Personnel Management and the Witwatersrand branch of the Psychological Association that there was a “state of emergency” over the incidence of mental illness.
