Linwood High Visits Naenae College "The Press’* Special Service WELUXGTON, July 18. Linwood High School outclassed Naenae College in the hockey matches of their annual winter sports tournament at Naenae today, but Naenae won the Rugby, basketball and soccer matches. Vastly superior to the less experienced Naenae boys, Linwood won the boys’ hockey, 7-0. Even so, there was a marked improvement in the Naenae standard and it may be that in another two or three years Naenae will be able to make a real match of it with the traditionally strong Linwood sides. Both teams adjusted themselves to the muddy conditions, and Linwood was most effective with its short, push passing. Linwood’s hockey, tactically and practically, was remarkably good in the conditions. . _ For Linwood, J. Goddard (left wing), W. Brehaut (centre-half and captain), and L. Haste (centreforward) played fine attacking games. Goddard scored two excellent goals. The Linwood girls won their hockey match. 3-0. Other results were Rugby: Naenae 18. Soccer: Naenae 8, Unwood 1 Basketball: Naenae 32, Linwood 18.
