LOLA SHAPES WELL

Track Work At Washdyke

*Th4 Press” Special Servlet: TIMARU, July 7. In a morning in which outstanding times were out of the question Lola was one of the most impressive trialist* at Washdyke today. The early workers had much the best of the going, 20 feet out from the rails on the course proper. Latecomers had a churned up .track with which to contend.

Lola (B. T. Jones) and Rising Flame (R. Broomhall) were last to gallop on it so there was merit in their time for a half a mile of 53sec, the final three furlongs in 40 2-seec. Lola, which was at a big disadvantage in the weights, came through her task in sound fashion and she should go close to completing a double for the meeting. Timely Boy (J. Jones) and Galina (C. S. Jones), which were the first to be timed, sprinted the last three furlongs of their work in 38sec and they did it well. The jumpers, Wick Light (J. M. Cappie), Tybalt (W. J. Hillis) and Red Mane (G. G. Hampton) did a solid working gallop over a mile and a quarter in 2min 30sec. the last half-mile in 56sec. Race Book (J. Jones) and Le Cheval (C. S. Jones) could have done much better than 56sec for their half mile. . Fair Polly (J. Jones) showed to advantage in beating Ocean Rhythm (C. L. Hemmingsen) over half a mile in 52 3-ssec. the last three furlongs in 40 2-ssec. Bellarook (L. M. Casey) and Golden Demonic (R. Low) followed in Msec. Fairy King (C. S. Jones) went leisurely over the same ground in Msec. Lightning Boy (R. Broomhall) and Vivien Leigh. (C. L. Hemmingsen) ran six furlongs in Imin 20 3-ssec, the final half in 53 l-ssec. Not Hurried Ops (L. M. Casey) and Mighty Son (R. Low) were not hurried in their run over half a mile in 56 l-ssec, the last three in 41 4-ssec. Savoury (C. L. Hemmingsen) was stopping at the end of six furlongs in Imin 22sec. the last half in 56 3-ssec. From almost a standing start Vamoose (L. M. Casey) and Sunair (R. Low) ran a mile in Imin 52 2-ssec, stepping up the pace over the last half in 53 2-ssec. Both did their work well. Ada’s Luck (R. Broomhall) was a clear leader from Regal Order (J. Jones) and Glamis Castle (C. L. Hemmingsen) throughout three 'furlongs in 41 3-ssec. Rhythm Rein (C. L. Hemmingsen) and Starwyn (R. Broomhall), rival candidates for the Washdyke Hack Handicap, finished six furlongs on terms in Imin 21 2-ssec. the last half taking 55sec. Ejay (R. Broomhall) and Corrie Maris (B. T. Jones) ran in from the five in Imin 8 3-ssec, the opening furlong in 13sec. Horatius (B. T. Jones) gave a mixed display over six steeplechase fences. He jumped safely four times but ran off twice.
