Canterbury Club’s Officers
More yachts were seen on the harbour last season than for many years and there were good entries for the club’s races, said the report presented at the fortieth annual meeting of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club. The commodore (Mr F. G. Briggs) presided and there was a fair attendance. Officers elected were: president, Mr W. T. Lester; commodore. Mr F. G. Briggs; vice-commodore, Mr J. U. Cropp; rear-commodore. Mr C. F. Dann; captain. Mr B. Bowater; junior captain. Mr R. Flaws; secretary, Mrs M. Holland; treasurer, Mr W. McCallum; committee, Messrs A. Olson, W. Thomas, D. Borrell. J. Morrison. P. Priest. D. Cable. M. Holland; judges, starters, timekeepers. Messrs A. W. James, K. Loader, F. Demlchell; sailing committee, Messrs C. Barter. B. Wall, J. Morrison; delegates to Canterbury Sailing Association, Messrs J. U. Cropp, C. F. Dann; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mrs M. Holland; sailing secretary, Mr A. W. James; custodians. Messrs A. Olson, D. Cable. A. U. Cropp; pickup launch officials, Messrs Olson and Cable. Mrs R. Forsyth was appointed convener of the women’s social committee.
