N.Z. Drivers In U.K.
With fatal accidents taking such a heavy toll on the world’s leading racing drivers, the two New Zealanders, Denis Huhne (Te Puke) and George Lawton (Whangarei) are expected to have a good chance of being promoted if they obtain their Formula 1 international licences this year, lawton and Hulme are in Europe under the New Zealand Grand Prix “driver to Europe” scheme, which was so successful in starting Bruce McLaren on the road to fame. The two New Zealanders are at present driving for the Yeoman Credit Formula H team. The Cooper company has said unofficially that Bruce McLaren will be a works entry in the next grand prix at Ardmore, as well as Jack Brabham, the present world champion.
