£1m PRINTING OFFICE
State Building In Wellington
(New Zealana Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 6. Tenders for a new building tor the Government Printing Office on a site between Thorndon quay and Mulgrave street in Wellington would be called by the end of July, the Minister of Works (Mr Watt) announced-today. Mr Watt said the present building tn Lambton quay was considered an earthquake risk and the. new building would alleviate congested accommodation and assist the rapidly expanding volume of work. “The new building will be • further stage in the development of the Government centre of which the departmental building in Bowen street and Broadcasting House, already under construction, are , art,” he said. The estimated cost of the new building is in the vicinity of £1 million. Plans are for various branches of the Government Printing and Stationery Department to be on the five lower floors, with administration offices on "te top floor, storage and space for other services in the basement, and y staff cafeteria on the first floor.
