EMPLOYMENT IN CITY
Steady Demand For Skilled Labour “An extremely satisfactory employment position in Christchurch for the time of the year” was the description given by the district superintendent of labour (Mr C. P. Collins), reviewing employment for the month. Surprisingly. few seasonal workers from freezing works had applied for jobs in June. Mr Collins said, and the high demand for skilled workers, unable to be satisfied in the city last month, had remained fairty steady. Of the 49 men listed on the unemployment register for June, 26 were unemployment beneficiaries.
