In that time Davies had three shots from penalties all within easy kicking range but missed.each one. After 15 minutes the hooker. Boon, having his first match of the tour, had to go to the sideline for attention to a hand injury but he was able to return within a few minutes. Davies had his fourth shot at goal after 16 minutes but again he missed. The All Blacks had a royal show when the ball' was spun along the back line to the right wing, but unfortunately McMullen fumbled his pass. Davies missed his fifth penalty in the twenty-third minute. The All Black forwards, with Meads, Pickering, Burry and Boon in the van, staged another raid on the opposition line. Half a minute before the interval Davies missed with his sixth penalty and at half-time the score remained: All Blacks 5. Rhodesian XV 3. The second half was two minutes old when Burry, always one of the most prominent All Black fbr-, wards, secured and barged his way over 20 yards to score handy to the posts. Davies converted. All Blacks 10, Rhodesian XV 3. Seven minutes after the interval the All Blacks were penalised for the fourteenth time in the match. Holton had a shot at goal Bom weU out'. Burry, easily the most effective of the All Black forwards, scored his second try when he swooped on a loose ball following a line-out to charge through the opposition. Davies's attempt at conversion hit the post and rebounded. All Blacks 13, Rhodesian XV 6. In a long period of scrappy play the All Blacks showed most of their previous mistakes.
