Bowls PROPOSED VISIT TO BRITAIN
Little Interest Shown (New Zealand Press Association) * . AUCKLAND. June 30. Unless considerably more interest is shown the proposed visit to Britain by a team of New Zealand bowlers in May next year will not take place, the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association was told today. Mr R. S. Jack, of Dunedin, reported that 21 bowlers had inquired about the tour, but that only four had signified definite interest. October 17 is the closing date for applications. Several members Mid that the high cost (betweetf £B5O and £1000) would put many bowler* off the tour. The other proposed New Zealand tour, to Australia in March, has drawn 16 applications. The cost of this tour is £275. Messrs J. R. Smith (Christchurch) and L. F. N. Ward (South Canterbury) were appointed manager and assistant-manager of the team. Applications from bowlers will close on October 17. Mr Jack reported that arrangements for the tour of New Zealand by a British team beginning in December were well under way. The team will leave England on November 18. arrive In Wellington on December 22. and depart from Wellington on February 17. The team will be captaled bjjrT. W. Proctor, of England, with R. P. Caign (Scotland) and E. Johns (Wales) as vice-captains. Colonel J. Daniel (England) will be the team’s secretary.
