DISPUTES ON TWO SHIPS
Mr Bockett Still Seeking Solution
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 24.
The Secretary of Labour (Mr I. L. Bockett) said tonight that he was continuing discussions with individual parties in order to end the dispute holding up two ships. Mr Bockett said he could give no indication of the progress of these discussions.
The parties are th' Union Steam Ship Company, whose Kauri is idle in Wellington, the Anchor Shipping Company, whose Puriri is idle in Nelson, the Merchant Service Guild and th* Seamen’s Union.
Seamen on the two ships were paid off because they would not take the vessels to sea during the disputes.
Mr D. W. Caldwell, of the Department of Agriculture, has been appointed a member of the Dairy Cattle Breeding Committee He replaces Mr J. F. Filmer
