Mr Donald Dobson Retires
Mr Donald Dobson, bursar of Christ’s College for the last 20 years, has retired after an association with the college extending from 1903, when he became a pupil. ''
Mr Dobson was a member of the first fifteen in 1909 and 1910, when he left to study at Canterbury University College. He was elected a fellow in 1919 and was a member of the board of governors until 1937.
He was appointed bursar in 1940, and since then he has seen the chapel rebuilt, Richards boarding house erected, and numerous other college buildings reconstructed. When he became bursar the college had 342 pupils. It now has about 56 °-
Three months ago Mr Dobson tendered his resignation but agreed to carry on until his replacement was convenient. However, a sudden illness from which he is convalescing has caused him to relinquish duties. He is succeeded by Mr I. W. Bolton, who has been assistant bursar for about nine years.
