Champagne corks popped in the Yonkers press room before tonight’s third and final leg of the International Pace seriesdrinks by courtesy of New Zealand’s J. D. Litten and Australia’s R. Hayes. Litten, who was to drive Caduceus half an hour later, and Hayes, the downcast drivertrainer of the ailing Australian horse, Fettle, sent the champagne to the big sports-writing contingent “as a gesture of thanks to the press boys” for the way,the Australian-New Zealand camp had been received in the United States.
