The Totem Pole
Sir,—The town hall site has been discussed. Could we switch over to the totem pole site? I am not in favour of putting it in Hagley Park. It is too lonely a spot, and to have it spoiled would be a disaster, Hundreds might pass it but if placed in a prominent spot in the city it would be seen bv thousands. Day or night it would always be visible. My idea would be to set it in concrete in the grass triangle at the corner of Colombo and High streets. It would look most imposing there. —Yours, etc., LILY HERRICK. June 23, 1960.
