Auckland Tram Tracks
The lifting of tram tracks and restoration of roadways in Auckland, now virtually finished, has cost the Auckland Transport Board £381.686. The total cost, the chief engineer (Mr J. F Welch reported, was £630. 565, but sales of rails and sleepers had realised £215,879 and the National Raods Board had contributed £33,000. Mr Welch said that 89,575 miles of single track weighing 16,000 tons had been lifted and 207.000 sleepers had been removed. —(P.A.)
