DEVELOPING RESERVES
Refusal From Halswell The Halswell County Council yesterday decided to decline a request made by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, for financial assistance to develop Christchurch City Council reserves. The reserves mentioned were Walnoni reserve,-Edgar Macintosh Park, and Bpwer reserve. The letter from the commissioner said Jhe assistance of £14,500 was applied for from Land Subdivision in Counties Monies. Of this, £3684 Ils Id was derived from subdivisions originally in the County of Hals-
As a result of boundary adjustments bringing more areas into the city, these funds passed ■ to the credit of the city council and were independent of the funds held on behalf of the county.
The reserveswould serve rapidly-growing districts, and the use of the funds seemed reasonable, said the letter.
