Naval Reservist Honoured

A former volunteer seaman from Christchurch was among those honoured in the Queen’s Birthday list this month. He was Mr F. M. Glasson, of Wellington, who has been awarded the British Empire Medal. Mr Glasson joined the Canterbury division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve in May, 1939. He was mobilised soon after World War II began and served in H.M.N.Z.S. Leander. He left the Navy for civilian life at the end of the war (as a leading seaman), but rejoined the volunteer service. He is now a chief petty officer in the Wellington volunteer division.
