American Driver Killed

A former three-times United States national motor racing champion, Jimmy Bryan, of Phoenix, Arizona, was killed today when his car skidded and hurtled 35 feet in the air at the start of the 100-mile national championship race in Langhorne. Bryan was still alive when he was pulled from the cockpit of his wrecked car, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Lower Bucks County Hospital. The 33-year-old driver. who won the Indianapolis 500 in 1958 and the 500 Miglia at Monza, Italy, the previous year, tried to take the lead 12 seconds after the race began.
