SHIPPING DISPUTE
No Settlement h Sight
(New Zealand Preee
WELLINGTON, June 20.
The two ships involved in a dispute between the Federated Seamen’s Union and employers were idle today with no prospect of an early settlement.
The Union Company’s Kauri, which paid off her seamen on Saturday, was moored at Aotea quay today, with officers and catering staff still on board. At Nelson, the crew of the Puriri was paid off this morning by the Anchor Shipping Company, and, like the Kauri, her cargo engagements will be carried out by other vessels. Officials of the companies concerned in the dispute said today the dispute would probably be handled by the Labour Department.
