Soviet-Australian Trade Rises

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, June 19. Official trade figures released today show a big increase in the buying of Australian goods by the Soviet Union. In the 10 months to April 30, 1959, Australia sold £49,000 worth of goods to Russia. But in the 10 months to April 30 this year. Australian sales to Russia soared to £11,754,000. The expansion of export trade to the Soviet Union means that country is now the seventh strongest foreign purchaser of Australian goods. An increase of more than 20 per cent, also occurred in Australian imports from the Soviet Union.
