Power Interrupted By Lightning
(New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 19.
Kawerau residents had a frightening experience when what was believed to be a thunderbolt hit power lines on the edge of the town at 6.5 p.m. on Saturday. As a peal of thunder sounded overhead, houses shook, a flash lit up the sky, and in many cases power points on walls also flashed. Lights dimmed and some went out about half an hour later. Power was restored in most cases by 7.30 p.m.
