CONSUL-GENERAL IN NEW YORK
Mr Paul Gabites Appointed
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19.
The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) today announced the appointment of Mr Paul Gabites as ConsulGeneral in New York.
Mr Gabites is at present counsellor in the New Zealand Embassy in Paris, where be served as Charge d’Affaires from October till the Ambassador (Mr C. E. Beeby) arrived in June. He will take up his post as ConsulGeneral in July, succeeding Mr T. P. Davin, who has returned to the Department of External Affairs.
Before going to Paris in 1936, Mr Gabites was official secretary in the New Zealand High Commissioner’s office in Ottawa and assistant secretary in Canberra. He is married with three children.
