JOURNALISTS IN VICTORIA
Day’s Stoppage Proposed
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, June 19. A mass meeting of Victorian members of the Australian Journalists* Association last night voted for stop-work meetings of 24 hours in every Australian capital city. The meeting asked the A.J.A. Federal executive to call a Federal council meeting as soon as practicable and directed Victorian delegates to the council to move the stop-work proposal. The meeting was called to consider the decision of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission quashing the award increasing the 1958 (current) salary margins by 17.4 per cent.
