DECISION SOON
Mr Armstrong’s Statement
A decision on a date, between February 8 and May 1, from which the incorporation of the 24 per cent, general wage order increase to freezing workers’ wages will apply, is expected to be made early next week.
The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr S. W. Armstrong) said this when he returned to Christchurch yesterday from Wellington. His decision on the question will be final and not subject to appeal. Mr Armstrong said that as he had been called on to act in previous stages of the negotiations, he was conversant with the issues. He would give his decision to the parties concerned and release it from Christchurch early next week.
