Coal
Sir,—l was a blacksmith for over 50 years and used many types of coal during that period. At one time coal was sold as slack, nuts, and household coal, the first being vastly superior to what it was from 35 years onwards. When I retired 11 years ago blacksmiths would not use it, for it was only dross. Nuts were much preferred for cleanness and better for good work. Nuts would pass through a H inch screen and there is roughly 25 per cent, in the coal householders get today. I suggest correspondents who have written on this subject should take a sample of coal they receive to their local member of Parliament. I am going to.— Yours, etc., PENSIONER. June 14. 1960.
