DELEGATES FROM COUNTIES
Reception At Winter Garden Elegant formal dress was a feature of the reception to delegates and their wives which was held at the conclusion of the New Zealand Counties’ Association conference, in Christchurch last evening. There were more than 640 guests at the Winter Garden. They were received by the joint hosts for the evening. Mr N. A. Rattray (chairman of Waimate County Council) and Mr J. E. Horrell (chairman of Eyre County Council). Mr Rattray formally welcomed the guests and was thanked later in the evening by Mr A. H. Hansen (president of the New Zealand Counties’ Association).
Delegates and their wives have been extended considerable hospitality during the conference. There was an organised tour to Geraldine early in the week, a tour of the city for some which ended with tea at the Christchurch International Airport, and a trip to Lincoln College last Monday. Wives of delegates have been taken on numerous city tours and one party visited a local garment factory. Yesterday afternoon some visited the museum. On Tuesday evening there was a social function at the Caledonian Hall arranged by a machinery firm.
