HORROR FILMS “SILLY”
Report To Council Of Women _ Most so-called ‘horror’ films are iV st exaggerated and silly,” sa id Mrs A. Kennedy White, reporting to a meeting of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women last evening. Mrs White had offered to go to a horror film, in order to provide the council with first-hand information on their effects on young people. “There were very few women in the audience, but mostly bodgie’ type young men,” she said. “The film was a silly thing about a sea monster—a very papier mache looking object, who emitted atomic radiation.
"Although small children might be afraid, adults would have no feeling of horror. It was all exaggerated and silly. It was a freezing night, and all I felt was cold feet." she said.
