Canterbury Gun Championships
J. McKenzie won the Canterbury skeet championship decided recently at Rangiora, when skeet, double rise, and sparrow clay championships were decided over two days. Ideal conditions prevailed for the first day, but such was not tile case for the final day, when the single rise and trophy matches were decided with a cold southerly wind blowing. Results were:— Double rise championship (47 entries): S. G. Holmes won in a shoot-off with J. Gilmore and A. Brown, who was runner-up. Those with 17-on were C. Streeter, E. G. Amyes, L. Lanauze, W. Morton, I. Streeter, and W. Moorhead. Sparrow championships (47 entries): L. W. Kerr won from L. Lanauze. An associated sweepstake resulted in a tie among L. W. Kerr, L. Lanauze, C. W. Scott, C. R. J. Crawford, J. Manson, A. Tomson. Skeet championship (29 entries): J. McKenzie, with a score of 25, won in a shoot-off against C. R. J, Crawford, with 21. Those with 24on were J. Mawson, R. G. Allan, W. Morton, S Geddes, and S. G. Holmes.
15-Bird sweepstake—first sweep —Those with all-on were: R. B. Johnson. G Gallagher, L. W. Kerr, C. Streeter, C. Booker, M. Barr, E. Chlsnall, W. Morton, R. T. Whitham, I. Streeter, P. Tallott, P. Crossley, A. Brown. A. Tomson. and M. D. Bailey. Second sweep (43 entries): Those with all-on were:
R B. Johnson. G. Gallagher, F. E. Kelly, C. Booker, N. Barr, E. Baldock, L. Baldock. R. T. Whitham, G. West. I. Streeter. 1. Whyte, A. Berry, C. Sonntag, and F. Inwood. Single rise championship (45 entries): F. Inwood won the event outright. Those with 24-on were: A. W. Fraser, C. Booker, and D. Dalton. Dalton was runner-up. £5O trophy match (48 entries): G. West 1, S. G. Holmes 2. S. Geddes 3, R Anderson 4, N. Barr 5. These five shooters shared the optional sweep. 15-Bird sweep: Those with all-on were C. Tallott. J. Dillon, L. Everett, D. Nicholas. W. Morton. P. Crossley, C. Booker, J. Gilmore. C. R. J. Crawford, G. West, J. Dalton and R. Anderson.
10-Bird sweep: Those with all-on were J. Dillon, E. Chisnail, P. Crossley. C. Booker, C. R. J. Crawford, J. Gilmore. I. Streeter, W. Matson, and P. Coleman.
