LOAN DECISION CRITICISED
R.S.A. To Approach Government (New Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 18. The Government’s decision, after representations for the writingoff of the interest-free portions of certain land rehabilitation loans was criticised by the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association conference today. An overwhelming majority passed a motion that the Government’s attention be drawn to its early promise to write off the loans and that the Government be requested to give effect to that promise. Discussion, which was reported to be very outspoken, was taken in committee. A large section of the delegates voiced opposition to the newspapers being excluded from the discussion. The Minister of Rehabilitation (Mr Skinner), at the opening of the conference on Tuesday, said the loans would be interest-free and no principal would be payable during the currency of the main mortgage but it would then come to charge at current rates of interest
