RUGBY TRAINING GROUNDS
Council Agrees To Lighting
The City Council on Wednesday evening made another Rugby football ground in Hagley Park available for a lighted training ground. The area is in South Hagley Park near Matsons corner. The area was made available to the Canterbury Rugby Football Union on condition that all wiring was underground, that light standards were kept to a minimum and in positions approved by the council, that the area was to be used for training only, with no goal posts erected, and that installation and maintenance costs were the union's responsibility.: With similar conditions, the council granted a request by the Dallington Rugby League Club for lights to be erected on the football grounds used by the club in Avon Park.
