Drunkards* Bill.— Japanese women Parliament members have cast aside party differences to draft a bill aimed at removing drunkards from the streets. The women politicians said the objectives of their tentatively titled “Law Governing the Restriction of Drunkards” were to prevent adverse influences of excessive drinking on health, to protect the life and property of individuals liable to be harmed by drunkards and to maintain public safety and order. The last time women in the Japanese Diet banded together they formed the nucleus group that pushed through Japan’s Anti-Prostitution Law two years ago.—Reuters.
