TRAIN ACCIDENT NEAR CHANEYS
Department Obtaining Reports (From Our Own Keporter) WELLINGTON, June 16. The Assistant-General Manager of Railways (Mr G. W. Brown) expects to have next week all reports on Friday’s railway accident near Chaneys. Mr Brown said tonight that the department was making a thorough investigation into the accident, in which an express goods train hit a runaway rake of trucks. “Naturally, until I have the full reports before me, I can make no comment on what action may be taken as a result of the smash,” he said.
