VULCAN REPAIRS COMPLETED
Test-Flight Before
Week-End (New Zealand Press Association) PALM. NORTH, June 15. Yesterday a "quart came out of a pint pot," at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station, Ohakea, when the R.A.F. Vulcan, which has been under repair for the last four months was towed out ot the No. 2 hangar. It was a trick operation as the tail of the Vulcan was higher than the hangar door. However, the problem was solved by trimming the fuel into the after tanks. The tail of the aircraft was depressed and the nose rose. At an angle of about 45 degrees, the tall tail cleared the hangar door by 18in and the giant dartshaped bomber is now in the open once more. Today the engines were idled while inspections were made of components which have been motionless for the last four months. Depending upon satisfactory checks today and tomorrow the huge aircraft is likely to be test-flown before the weekend.
