The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) will visit Christchurch on Saturday. He will pay a call at the Christchurch Pensioners’ Club in Worcester street and then visit “Femwood,” the new South Island home for the blind. In the evening, Mr Nash will attend the crowning ceremony of the queen carnival of the St Albans branch of the Labour Party. He will fly back to Wellington on Sunday. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) was congratulated by the City Council last evening on the award of the C.M.G. to him in the Queen’s Birthday honours list The motion of congratulations was moved by the Deputy-Mayor (Or. H P. Smith) on behalf of the councillors, staff and citizens Mr R. W. Bennett (Waiuku) has been appointed the representative of the Counties’ Association on the Pollution Advisory Council He replaces Mr A. H. Hansen, who retired after nine years as the representative. Cr. G. A G. Connal was appointed by the City Council last evening as a representative on the Christchurch Metropolitan Road Safety Committee.
Dr. K. F. Ross has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, London. Mr K. W. Fraser, of Wellington, was re-elected Dominion president of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association at its conference yesterday. Mr H. Mitchell was elected Dominion vicepresident, and Mr C. J. Tustin honorary treasurer.—(P.A.) The Rev. J. S. Murray, of Auckland, secretary .to the overseas missions committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, will visit Christchurch on July fl. i Mr Murray has recently returned , from a tour of north India and Indonesia. </
