Record Profit
Net profit of the United Building Society of Christchurch (Permanent) rose £272 to £6043 in the year ended March 31, 1960. Dividend has been raised, as announced earlier, from 6 per cent, to 6J per cent. This requires £5541 (up £426) and leaves £502 to be added to carry-forward, bringing it to £5162.
Income from mortgage and investment interest rose £341 to £9425 and income from all sources was £295 higher at £9831. Expenditure was £23 higher at £3787.
Paid capital, in £1 shares, is steady at £85,260. Shareholders’ funds are £502 higher at £112,721. Fixed assets are unchanged at £3487. They comprise the society’s freehold property in Hereford street, at cost; Government valuation is £9375. Current assets are £609 higher at £1649 and advances and investments rose £l3B to £169.989. Current liabilities rose £72 to £3199 and deposits fell £2954 to £59,205.
