FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred east of the North Island. A depression lies over the south of the South Island. Forecast:— West Coast.—Moderate to fresh north-easterly winds, tending south-easterly later; overcast with periods of rain, but rain clearing slowly from the south this afternoon; temperatures cool. Outlook: cloudy with some scattered showers. Nelson and Marlborough.—Fresh northerly winds; cloudy with rain developing this afternoon or evening. Outlook: scattered showers Canterbury.—Moderate northerly winds turning southerly this afternoon; cloudy, with rain developing and temperatures becoming colder. Outlook: cold, showery weather.
