STATION SOLD FOR £72,000

“Walter Peak” On Wakatipu

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 3.

“Walter Peak” station, a 57,000 acre high-country sheep run on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, has been sold for £72,000. The purchaser was a Southland farmer. Mr C. T Herron, of Balfour. The property comprises 1150 acres of freehold land and 56,000 acres *of Crown leasehold.

The station was sold as a gome concern with about 12,000 sheep The sale marks the end of occupation of the station by the Mac kenzie family. It was purchased bv Mr Hugh Mackenzie, in 1881. He died in 1933 leaving the property to his family. It has been farmed since then by one of his sons, Mr Peter Mackenzie.

The property was offered at auction in Dunedin last year, but the bidding did not reach the reserve.
