BANK MANAGER TRANSFERRED
Customers Say Farewell
“The qualities needed for a successful bank manager are many and varied but Mr J. Middleton. has had them all,” said Mr K. A. Gough, speaking on behalf of customers of the Armagh street branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., at a farewell function to Mr Middleton.
In reply, Mr Middleton said his association with his customers since he had opened the branch in 1952 had been most pleasant and he was certain they would give to the new manager, Mr L. D. Harrowfield, the same support he had always received. Mr Middleton, who has been transferred to the bank’s Timaru branch, has been closely connected with the Albion Rugby Club and the Canterbury Bowling Club. For the last two years he had been treasurer of the Can'..bury Rugby Union. His successor, Mr Harrowfield, who arrived iu Christchurch this week, has been manager of the Cuba street, Wellington branch, for the last five years.
