WHOLE-TIME PSYCHIATRIST VISITING EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT SURGEON Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners tor the above positions at Timaru Hospital. WHOLE-TIME ASSISTANT SURGEON. Higher surgical qualifications and experience in Orthopaedics is desirable. WHOLE-UME PSYCHIATRIST: Appointee will be responsible for setting up a Psychiatric Department at Timaru Hospital and will provide services for adjacent Waitaki and. Ashburton Boards. VISITING EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT SURGEON: This appointment is for an initial period of three years and renewable. In addition to salary for Timaru Hospital appointment there is a fortnightly clinic conducted at Oamaru, 55 miles distant, for which a fee of £lO 10s plus travelling time and mileage allowance is paid by the Waitaki Hospital Board. The total salary will be approximately £1220 per annum for a senior man. The appoiptee would establish himself in private practice without financial obligation. First-class private hospital facilities are available in the city. SALARIES: According to qualifications and experience, appointees will be graded under Hospital Employment (Medical Officers’) Regulations. 1957, within the following scales: SURGEON: Grade Junior Specialist, £l7OO to £2OOO. PSYCHIATRIST: If recognised as a Senior Specialist, £2lOO to £2lOO. or as a Junior Specialist, £l7OO to £2OOO. EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT SURGEON: If designated Senior Specialist, up to maximum of £795 per annum for assessed hours of over 7, but not over 101 hours per week at Timaru Hospital.
