Net profit of the Northern Steam - Ship Company,- Ltd., Auckland, dropped sharply by £16,587 to £33,636 in the year ended March 31. Dividend is raised from 6 to 7 per cent., but last year’s 3 per cent, bonus is omitted.
Profit was struck after providing £2308 more for ordinary and special depreciation at £43,329 and £17,458 less for taxation at £34,645. Dividends take £19,348 (last year, £22,389). There is no transfer to the reserves,, which received £38,000 last year, and carry-forward is increased by £13,788 to £32,743.
