WORLD REFUGEE YEAR APPEAL
£35.000 Needed To
Reach Target
Subscriptions to date to C.0.R.5.0.’s World Refugee Year money appeal amount to £90,000. Another £35,000 is needed to reach the national target of £125.000.
Among the personal donations have been many anonymous gifts ranging from 5s to £250. Letters accompanying the donations have mentioned several ingenious methods of raising funds, especially among school children, many of whom have contributed at the rate of 2s a head. One school in the South Island helped to swell its total by the sale of unclaimed articles left in the cloak-room. Another raised £65 by holding a concert. Pupils of the Rangitata Island school sent in £3 10s received for potato-picking.
