VISIT BY U.S. PRESIDENT
Nash Renews Invitation
WASHINGTON. June 1
New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Mr Nash, said today he had renewed his invitation to President Eisenhower to visit his country Mr Nash conferred for an hour with the President at the White House this morning and told reporters afterwards that they had discussed the summit position and the general European situation
“I came away much more fullv informed with regard to the President's mind than 1 would have if we had not had the conversation.” Mr Nash said "In general, I ha”e been helped very much indeed by enjoying his time for an hour.”
Asked whether President Eisenhower had expressed any disappointment hat he could not visit New Zealand and Australia during his trip to the Far East this month. Mr Nash disclosed that yesterday he had renewed his invitation for the President to make a visit. Mr Nash recalled that he previously had extended an informal invitation to Mr Eisenhower when he conferred with him in Wasbineton last October “1 asked him vesterdav when he could visit us and told him we would like him to come when th® time was propitious." he said
“I think he ’ould like to come, but there was nothing positive or definite about it all ”
Mr Nash did not go into details of his talk with the President about the summit conference breakdown, but he appeared to endorse Mr Eisenhower’s stand in Paris, saying: “He has probably got as high an Integrity as you would find In any Prime Minister or President”
